British Airspace is one of the densest in the world.
In London and all over Great Britain, airspace is a busy place. Each year, more than 2.2 million flights transport more than 220 million passengers through the territory. All this traffic is controlled by an organization: NATS.
These trips create an imprint in the sky, which NATS has compiled in a stunning timelapse. They’ve pulled together data from over 7,000 flights to get this little clip. It is an ordinary day in the British skies with, to begin with, an invasion of the American lines in the morning.
Around noon, the RAF fighter jets are seen practicing in their reserved area and the Aberdeen heliport, which supplies all the North Sea oil platforms. There are thousands of other flights to and from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, and London City airports.
This video makes us realize that airspace is a world apart, very present in our daily life!
If you liked it, you could also watch the videos made by NATS in Europe, North Atlantic, and the Middle East.
